——— Shorts & Shades ———




                     Lately I’ve been feeling so ready for summer but the weather just isn’t there yet. The days are still pretty short and cold, plus there’s been a ton of rain and really chilly winds. My legs never really get cold, for obvious reasons, so I decided to work these cute shorts into a look. This chunky knit sweater does the trick keeping me warm enough to pull it off. The sunglasses and belt chain help to edge out the look a bit, which has always been a big part of my style. Things like that just help to add a bit more interest to looks. If it wasn’t for my love of layering and coats I’d really be over this weather, but it has helped inspire some fun looks.

                  As the weather gets warmer I always find it harder to get creative with style. Im really into layering my outfits, but obviously thats harder to do in summer. Today I went for something pretty casual and breathable since it's starting to heat up a bit. I styled up an otherwise basic look with a simple cross body bag and baseball cap. Adding some high socks helps to give the outfit some balance.                                        This whole outfit came together because of a D.I.Y. project I was working on. I made this armband a couple weeks ago. I call it the "quick patch" since you can take it off and put it onto any outfit. I got sick of my favorite patches being stuck on only one jacket or shirt so this seemed like the next logical step. It features the anarchy "A" and the queer rights upside down triangle. As far as the outfit goes, I wanted to balance the black and white since they are such high contrasting opposites. I feel the gray shorts really helped out there. Once again, I just like knee braces.                  Todays look reminds me a bit of Rooney Mara as Lisbeth Salander in the movie The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I just love her outfits and her attitude in that movie. Nothing like a badass who knows how to get what she wants. I wanted todays look to be a bit of a Goth/Punk mix as well as be utilitarian.
